11. Few industries have been hit
harder than the travel, meetings and incentives industries. Just as the fears
were starting to subside and travel starting to recover, we are hit by an
escalation of the Middle East crises. Once again, our newspapers and television
screens are filed with images of violence and travel jitters return. Travel
and tourism are intertwined with meetings and incentives. One cannot separate
one from the other. What affects one inevitably affects the other. Time
to get really creative. This is the absolute wrong time to sit and cry or sit
and wait it out. Cutting marketing budgets and stopping to attend trade shows,
conferences and meetings is the absolute wrong strategy.
