At the flashing light in Surry Virginia get on Rt.
626. Go 2.8 miles on Rt. 626 and turn right onto Rt. 618. [There are
green signs for Chanco, Pipsico and Eastover Plantation at the
intersection of Rt. 626 and Rt. 618]. Go 2 miles on Rt. 618. [Rt.
618 dead ends at Rt. 610]. Turn left on Rt. 610 and drive 3 miles.
[You will pass Pipsico and Eastover Plantation]. The entrance to
Chanco on the James is on the right.
NEWPORT
NEWS & HAMPTON: Take the James River Bridge to Rt. 32 [second
stop light after the bridge]. Turn right and go 3 miles to Rt.10.
Turn right and follow Rt. 10 for 27 miles past Smithfield and
Bacon's Castle to Surry. At the Flashing Yellow Light in Surry
proceed straight, which will put you on Rt. 626. Follow the
remaining directions from Surry.
WILLIAMSBURG
& SOUTH FROM RICHMOND ON INTERSTATE 64: At the Jamestown
Village & Historical Site take the Jamestown Ferry to Scotland
Wharf. You will be on Rt. 31 when you leave the ferry. Go straight
into Surry on Rt. 31. Turn right onto Rt. 620. Follow Rt. 620 to
the stop sign. Merge to the right onto Rt. 626. Take Rt. 626 and
turn right on to Rt. 618. Go 2 miles on Rt. 618. Turn left on Rt.
610 and drive approx 3 miles. The entrance to Chanco on the James is
on the right.
VA BEACH &
NORFOLK via the Hampton Roads Tunnel: Take the exit onto
Mercury Blvd. going towards the James River Bridge. Cross the James
River Bridge to Rt. 32 [second stop light after the bridge]. Turn
right and go 3 miles to Rt.10. Turn right and follow Rt.10 for 27
miles to Surry. At the flashing yellow light in Surry proceed
straight, which will put you on Rt. 626. Follow the remaining
directions from Surry.
PORTSMOUTH:
Follow Rt.17 past Churchland and Carrollton going towards the
James River Bridge. Turn left onto Rt. 32 [Rt. 32 is approximately
one mile before the bridge]. Go 3 miles to Rt.10. Turn right onto
Rt. 10 and follow it for 27 miles to Surry. At the flashing yellow
light in Surry proceed straight, which will put you on Rt. 626.
Follow the remaining directions from Surry.
FROM THE
SOUTH: In Suffolk take Rt.10 to Surry. At the flashing yellow
light in Surry proceed straight, which will put you on Rt. 626.
Follow the directions from Surry.
FROM THE
WEST: Take Rt. 10 out of Hopewell or Rt. 40 out of Waverly to
Spring Grove. At Spring Grove turn left off Rt. 10 or go straight
through from Rt. 40 onto Rt. 646. Within 3/10's of a mile you'll
turn right onto Rt. 610. Proceed on Rt. 610 for 4.3 miles. [Go
straight at the stop sign]. Chanco on the James is on your left.
FROM
WASHINGTON DC: Take Interstate 95 South. Then get on 295
south towards Rocky Bottom NC follow until Exit for Rt. 10 to
Hopewell. Follow remaining directions from the west.
