Svetlana Kim immigrated to the United States from Leningrad, Russia, in 1991. She worked her way from a cleaning lady to a sales manager and cosmetics executive for Lancome, Este Lauder, and Laura Mercier before becoming a successful stockbroker. Today she is an entrepreneur and community leader, and author. Actively involved in such organizations as the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, AARP Womens Leadership Circle, and the Junior League of Washington DC, and a supporter of Senator Hillary Clinton’s fundraising campaign. Svetlana also serves as a Board Member of the Library of Congress, The Asian Division Friends of Society, the National Council of Asian American Business Associations, and the Euro-American Women's Council. Kim is a 2008 Asian Academy Hall of Fame inductee. Married, she splits her time between Washington, DC, and San Francisco.
