Rosemary Tran Lauer
A first generation immigrant, Rosemary Tran Lauer came to the U.S. in 1975 from Vietnam as a single mother with two children, aged six months and three years. With no formal college education and speaking little English, Rosemary worked several jobs, relying on welfare programs and friends to help care for her children while she worked tirelessly to become financially independent. After earning a degree in cosmetology, she went on to spend over twenty years in the beauty industry where she owned and operated three beauty salons, and was inducted into the Marquis' Who's Who in America in 1999.
After being treated for breast cancer in 2001, Rosemary decided to make a career change and entered the real estate industry where she is now a successful commercial realtor with Long and Foster.
Rosemary attributes her success in life, as well as in her real estate career, to her passion and commitment to excellence both personally as well as professionally. She feels blessed to be in a career that she loves and that also allows her to lead a life that is in service to others. Since 2002, she has been recognized as one of Long and Foster's Top Producers.
In addition to her commercial real estate career, Rosemary is a sought after life coach, a philanthropist, and an author about to release her first book "Dare To Care".
Rosemary is the Founder and President of Devotion To Children, a charitable organization committed to providing access to high-quality educational and childcare programs for children under six years old from economically disadvantaged families. In her 29 years in America , Rosemary has not forgotten the challenges and struggles that she experienced first-hand as a single mother attempting to provide a brighter future for her children. Happily married and now a mother of five, Rosemary works diligently to give back to the same community that has made her current success possible. The Devotion to Children organization has grown significantly since its humble beginning in 1994 and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help families in need. Devotion to Children, now working with many active volunteers and partnership organizations, continues to help improve the lives of young children and their families throughout the region.
In 2010, Devotion To Children received the 'Immigrant of the Month Award' from Immigration Powerhouse, the ‘Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer Award’ from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), was recognized with the ‘We Are America Now Award’ by Northern Virginia Family Service and ‘The Spirited Service Award’ by Smart CEO Magazine. In February of 2011 Devotion To Children was the recipient of the ‘Public Service Award’ by the Asian American Chamber of Commerce (AACC), and, currently in 2012, Devotion To Children has been recognized with the Small Non-Profit of the Year Award by the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to her work with Devotion to Children, Rosemary also serves on the Board of Northern Virginia Family Services (NVFS), Jade Philanthropy Society and is on the Board of Advisors for Virginia Commerce Bank and the Vietnamese Realtor Forum.
