RISK REDUCTION AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT FOR SAFER EVENTS
A Workshop for Meeting and Event Planners, Presenters and Suppliers
Merle Manzi, CMP
Susan Kemp Vissari, CMP
This interactive workshop examines the critical role that meeting managers
and event planners need to be prepared to play to reduce risks and/or
respond to crisis situations associated with events under their control. The
session emphasizes the need to utilize strategic planning and risk
assessment for the purpose of being better prepared to respond to any
meeting- or event-related crisis. The presentation will review several
selected case studies to be utilized as examples of actual crisis situations
relating to past events. In addition, information will be presented that
will enable meeting/event planners to establish their own checklists and
best practices plans to assist them in preventing, or at least responding
more effectively, to meeting or event crisis situations. The emphasis of
this session is on planning to minimize risks, prevention and protection.
The information presented is sure to be very useful for every hospitality
professional in attendance--whether meeting planner, speaker or supplier.

COMPUTER SAFETY: HOW LONG CAN YOU BE DOWN? AND
A sampling of “Self Promotion: The Key to Success”
Rochelle Balch
Do you have a computer disaster/recovery plan? Do you feel safe and secure? Do
you have a plan in place in the event of a disaster - for a power failure, a
natural disaster, a damaged computer, a devastating virus, etc.? What is piece
of mind and safety worth to you? Learn to calculate your risk, determine your
exposure, and identify what you must have to continue your business without
unnecessary downtime.
We’ll cover types of measures you can take to protect yourself. Having a
computer contingency plan is more than just running backups periodically - it’s
being aware of your total computer environment and knowing how to be safe. This
high energy, quick moving fun workshop, presented by a 30 year veteran of the
computer industry, is for those serious about making their office compliant,
safe, and secure. You’ll leave feeling better, more knowledgeable and feeling
more in control.
And....as a “sampler” for things to come next year in Albuquerque... we’ll
spend a few minutes about “bragging.” Yes, self - promotion - bragging about
yourself ! Do you feel comfortable bragging? Does everyone really know what
you’ve done? Do they know how good you are? Do you think that promoting yourself
is too obnoxious? This portion of our session will cover why self-promotion is
necessary and how to unleash your personal power of self-promotion.
You may have seen Rochelle last year at CIMPA with her phenomenal “Get
Publicity, Get Noticed and Get it for Free” session and keynote for CIMPA and
the trade fair. Rochelle has been noticed nationally for her success and
community involvement. How does a little home based computer business - we’ll
maybe not to little, about $1.5 million annually - get such exposure - by
Bragging of course ! You’ll learn the basics and see how to do it too ! And,
next year at CIMPA’s conference you’ll hear lots more secrets, tips and real
life experiences.
