ASSOCIATION AND CORPORATE PLANNERS FIND MEETING SITES
by panellists - Erin McArthur, Events Director, PATA, Karen Randall from Treasure Map,
Katya Thomas of Global Events Partners, and Samantha Wadkins of the American
Academy of Optometry offered their experiences. |
Most association
executives and meeting planners wish the process were as easy as surfing the
net, making a few phone calls and flying to a lovely destination where one is
pampered and spoiled. In real life, the process is much more complicated.
Politics, relationships, social causes, budgets get in the way. Find out who
makes the decisions, how decisions are made and what factors affect
decision-making.

MEETING
HORRORS |
Panelists:
Jennifer Plamer, Gay Pfister, Erin MacArthur
|
- Back by popular demand: interesting true stories
of what went wrong in their own or other planner's
meetings. There is not a single meeting planner in the trenches who can
honestly say that all his/her meetings had been perfect. Even the most
successful meeting planners have horror stories to tell. If experience
is the best teacher, there will be plenty of lessons to be learned here.
For planners, learn to anticipate disasters based on your peers'
experiences. For suppliers, gain some insights on what you can do to
prevent the horrors and promote success.
