The 9th International Technology, Meetings and Incentives Conference, organised by the Connected International Meeting Professionals Association (CIMPA) held in Bangkok, Thailand between October 26-29, 2000, offered a rich and exciting professional development program. The comprehensive 3-day program covered virtually every key aspect of meeting planning, (even the "meeting horrors"), strategies and techniques at one's disposal in getting a share of the US$ 92 billion American meetings and conventions business, leveraging new technologies on the Internet, e-commerce and other valuable tips and offered tremendous value. ITMIC however had not been widely promoted in this part of the world. Nevertheless there were participants from the key continents and for those present, the conference proved to be a truly valuable networking experience. With a smaller group, participants were able to spend quality time with each other and networked effectively without the traditional table-top sessions. The Connected International Meeting Professionals Association (CIMPA) is the only online association of meetings and incentives professionals.
